After leaving Berchtesgaden, we headed to Innsbruck. We walked around the delightful old town.
Emperor Maximilian I loved Innsbruck so much that he built a palace here - including the balcony topped with 2,657 gilded copper tiles. The golden roof gave Maximilian an impressive spot from which to view his medieval spectacles.
We took a tour of the Hofkirche where Maximilian wanted to be buried, surrounded by 28 larger-than-life cast bronze statues of his ancestors.
Then we drove on until we reached Fussen and checked into our wonderful apartment, and went out for some pizza.
